DODA: Masud Bhaderwah trounced Green Shaheen Doda by 41 runs in a thrilling contest and lifted the T20 Christmas Celebrations Cup organized by Doda Police Headquarters in collaboration with St. George Convent School Batote under the guidance of Dr. Sunil Gupta, DIG DKR range at Cricket Stadium Doda.
Earlier in the final, batting first after winning the toss, Masud Bhaderwah scored 211 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 18 overs. Adil Wani played a brilliant inning of 97 runs while Mehran Ganie made 36 and Danish contributed 16 runs to the total. From bowling side, Saddat Shah and Nasir Ali grabbed two wickets each while Sahil claimed one.
In reply, Green Shaheen Doda failed to chase the target and managed to score only 170 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 18 overs. Irfan played a good innings of 43 runs, while Amir Wani (39) and Yawar Khan (20) were the other contributors for their team.
For Masud Bhaderwah, Khalid took 3 wickets , Adil took 2 wickets and Rinku and Owais claimed one wicket each.
Adil Wani was adjudged Man of the Match in the final match, Rinku declared Best Bowler, Adil Wani was declared Best Batsman and Man of the Series for scoring 287 runs and taking 6 wickets in the tournament.
Meanwhile, in the girls exhibition match, Doda Queens defeated Doda Angels by 13 runs. Batting first, Doda Queens scored 66 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Himanshi with (34), Monika Rana (12), Reyanshu (11) and Muskan (9) runs were the main scorers. From bowling side, Aradhya and Priyanshi Rani took 1 wicket each. In reply, Doda Angels could not chase the target and managed to score only 53 runs for the loss of five wickets. Priyanshi Rani was the top scorer with 22 runs while Komal Manhas, Komal Sharma and Taiba added 13, 9 and 5 runs to the total. From bowling side, Muskan grabbed 3 wickets while Rehanshu and Himanshi took 1 wicket each. Himanshi was declared as Women of the Match.
In the closing ceremony, SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom was the Chief Guest who distributed the trophies and cash award of Rs. 10000 to winning team and Rs. 5000 to the runner-up team in the presence of Fr. Victor, Fr. Rupak, Sr. Vanasa, Rajesh Gill and DySP Showkat Baig.
In his address, SSP Doda lavished praise for the organizers and St. George Convent School Batote for conducting the event smoothly and successfully and said that the J&K Police is committed to involve the youths in sports activities so that they may not derail from the main stream and to provide them professional platform so that they get maximum exposure while playing with each other.
He also assured the participant cricketers (boys/Girls) for organizing more such big events in near future.
Fr. Victor, Guest of Honour also spoke on the occasion and said that love, Joy and Peace are the basic ingredients of Christmas celebrations so we should share love and joy with each other. He asserted that he feel happy to see the Doda Girls showing good cricketing skills during the exhibition match.
The matches were officiated by Sourav Katoch, Imran Kalal, Sagar Ittu, Yasir Dar, Nousher Bhat, Ajay Katoch and Babar Lone.
The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by anchor Omprakash whereas vote of thanks was presented by Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and Coordinator of the Tournament.
