Jammu: In a drive against bovine smuggling, Jammu Police has rescued 50 bovine animals from different locations. In total 4 vehicles, including two trucks, one Mahindra load carrier and one Tata mobile bearing Registration Nos. JK02CC 7043, CG04MP 3354, Jk02BK 5503 and Jk02CB 6705 respectively have been seized.In this regard, various case FIRs have been registered in different police stations and accused have been arrested, who were identified as Roshan Lal, son of Ramesh Pal, resident of Pathankot Punjab along with helper namely Liaquat Ali, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Upper Thanowa Tehsil and District Udhampur; Harpal Singh, son of Avtar Singh, resident of Saharnpur Uttar Pradesh; Mohd. Taj, son of Mohd. Shafi, residnetg of Sunderbani along with helper namely Zaheer Abaas, son of Mohd.Hussain, resident of Rajouri.The whole operation was done under supervision of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma and arrests were made in the jurisdictions of Police Post Manwal, Police Post Pouni Chak and Police Post Jourian. Further investigation of the case is going on.Meanwhile, Samba Police foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 10 bovines at Naka National Highway Tapyal in two separate incidents under jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal. A party of police station Ghagwal SHO Rakesh Sharma during Naka at National Highway Tapyal, signaled a Mahindra Bolero (JK02AF-9894) to stop. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the vehicle and abandoned it at few meters away from the Naka. However driver managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness. During checking of vehicle, 5 cattle were found laden inside it which were rescued.The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot. In this connection, a case FIR No. 66/2021 under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal.Similarly in another incident, a party of Police Station Ghagwal during Naka at national highway Tapyal, rescued 5 more bovines which were being transported in a Mahindra Bolero, without Registration number. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transportation of bovines was also seized. In this connection, a case FIR No. 67/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at police station Ghagwal and investigation started.
