Mahashivratri celebrated with religious fervour across region

POONCH: Thousands of devotees from different places of UT thronged historical Shiv Khori cave in Poonch and paid obeisance on Thursday on occasion of Mahashivratri. Grand arrangements were made by Shiv Khori Mandir Committee in collaboration with administration to commemorate the occasion.
The celebrations started with Hawan-Yagya at 8 AM amid chanting of Vedic Mantras, which was attended by Commander 93 Inf Brigade Punit Goyal, DC Poonch Rahul Yadav, SSP Romesh Angral and other prominent persons including Sanatan Dharam Sabha President Satish Sasan, Nishu Gupta, Rohit Sharma, Surjit Singh, Retired Senior Lecturer Pradeep Khanna and President Shiv Khori Committee Lokesh Anand. Puran Ahuti was performed at 9:15 AM followed by distribution of Prasad among devotees.
A Vishal Bhandara was also organised on the occasion, which continued till late evening. President of Committee Lokesh Anand welcomed the guests and thanked SSP Poonch Romesh Angral for providing proper security for smooth conduct of the event in sensitive border district.

VIJAYPUR: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray, Vijaypur unit Celebrated Mahashivratri with grace of Lord Shiva.
Party President J&K , Manish Sahni was the chief guest at an event organized in the main market of Vijaypur. On this occasion artists glorified god Shiva and kept people engrossed in Shiva bhakti. Among all the twelve Shivratris that occur in a calendar year, Maha Shivratri, the one that occurs in February-March is of the most spiritual significance Sahji said. Bhandara was also organised on this occasion. President Vijaypur Manish Sharma, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, President Jammu Youth Unit Binny Mahajan, Mahant Sita Ram and many other party activists were present.

KATHUA: Hundreds of thousands of devotees and followers from districts of Jammu, Samba and Kathua including pilgrims from Himachal Pradesh and Punjab States visited Lord Shiva’s Mahanaal at Kathua District of J&K State for celebration of Mahashivratri festival.

AKHNOOR: On the occasion of Mahashivratri thousands devotees takes the blessings of Lord Kameshwar Swami at Kameshwar temple Akhnoor.
As per the Mahant of Kameshwar temple Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Rameshwar Dass this Kameshwar temple is very historical temple since Dawapar Yug during battle of Kourav and Pandav which is very interested and very famous temple of Jammu and Kashmir reason.

SAMBA: Mahashivratri Festival also celebrated in all the temples of Samba especially in Historic and Ancient Aap Shamboo, Maheshwar Mandir Samba. Devotees Paid obeisance at Natural Aap Samboo (Pindis). Mahant Parshuram Giri Maharaj delivered the holy sermons.
Ramban: The festival of Mahashivratri was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the Ramban district.
On the occasion, all the temples were specially decorated and witnessed huge rush of the devotees from early morning. A Shiv Shobha Yatra was also taken out in which President, Maha Shivratri Celebration Committee, Ramban, Kunal Magotra, and various religious and political leaders besides prominent citizens participated.
Langer was also organised by the Snatan Dharm Sabha at Maitra and by the locals at Rampant.

UDHAMPUR: Mahashivratri celebrated in Udhampur and its outskirts locality with great religious fervor and gaiety. On this occasion all temples of Lord Shiva including century old Rameshwar Temple in Devika were fully decorated with luminaries and whole day devotees were seen performing obeisance at many temples also.
Large number of local adjoining outskirt took bath in holy Devika River Udhampur and took blessings of Lord Shiva on this occasion. Local people had setup number of stalls where Prasad was distributed among the devotees and public in general. While by evening Jangam (Disciples) of Lord Shiva has presented attractive Shiv Leela and recited marriage of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati at Aaap Shamboo temple which enthrall the devotees much.
Meanwhile, 18th annual Maha Shivratri-cum-Rural awareness Mela, organized at Khoon village of Tehsil Majalta in Udhampur received an overwhelming participation of thousands of people with huge congregation assembling in the spiritual ambience of Khooneshwar Aap Shambu Temple. The high profile Mela is being organised by Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA), a reputed NGO of the Jammu and Kashmir state, in collaboration with District Administration Udhampur. The participants, in thousands, paid obeisance at the historic ancient temple to seek blessings of Lord Shiva.
Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, was the chief guest who formally inaugurated the awareness mela while Project Officer ICDS, Attar Chand, was the guest of honour on the occasion. Lauding the enthusiasm among the participants in the annual feature, Chairman of DAHWA and founder of Mela, Surat Singh Sumbria, said the holding of Mela aims at generating awareness among the rural masses about the governmental schemes meant for their socio-economic emancipation. Chief Agriculture Officer, Subash Sharma and other senior officers of different departments besides Sarpanchs, Panchs, prominent citizens and large number of devotees were also present on the occasion. Besides, Sarpanch Romesh Chander, Ved Prakash Sharma, Main Sarpanch Namrata Bali, Kewal Padha, Ex Captain Gopal Singh, Jagdev Singh and Swadesh Master supported the conduct of the event.
