JAMMU: A meeting of Live & Let Live Society of India (LLLSI) was held on Thursday under chairmanship of Romal Singh, in which participants expressed gratitude towards Government for agreeing to 19 per cent hike in transport fare, in view of record hike in prices of petrol and diesel.
The participants expressed concern that while rates of crude oil are at their lowest ebb, the cost of petrol and diesel is at its highest level due to high rate of state and centre taxes, besides oil companies’ profit. They said that the abnormal hike in taxes and profit of companies, have become unbearable for common man in view of his per capita income. The LLLSI members urged Government of India to ensure no further increase in prices of petrol and diesel. The participants appealed to LG that orders should be issued to concerned department for releasing fare-rate list, which should be displayed on prominent places as also on passenger vehicles to ensure that there is no over-charging.
Others present in the meeting included Santokh Singh Komal President, Jasmer Singh General Secretary, C P Sharma and Mohd Bashir.
