LEH: A three-day free Sowa-rigpa medical camp organized by Lha-Rje Sorig Foundation (LSF), Sumoor Nubra, in Yarma region of Nubra valley concluded successfully after examining more than 200 patients.Henache, Aranu yogma, Aranu Gogma, Tongsted, Nyungsted, Kheme and Rdongsa villages were covered and a total of 214 patients were examined and given free treatment.“SOPs required in view of Covid-19 pandemic were strictly observed during the medical camp. We also distributed masks and sanitizers among the villagers,” Founder LSF Amchi Rigzin Tondup told State Times on Wednesday.He added that LSF is committed to organize such camps in future also for the benefit of rural villagers who can’t afford to go out of their villages for treatment purposes.This was the 32nd Sowa Rigpa free medical camp in the row that Lharje Sorig Foundation has organized. Similar camps were conducted in the past also in remote villages of Nubra and Changthang regions. Since the the medical camp was in the traditional Amchi System of Medicine or the Tibetan Medicine, patients were examined by Amchi (physician) Rigzin Tondup and free Tibetan or Amchi medicines were also distributed among the needy patients besides providing them with masks and sanitizers.Villagers expressed gratitude to Amchi Rigzin Tondup for making it possible to arrange the medical camp in the freezing winter months.LSF with support from Stichting Hulp aan Nubra (st.HAN) have been promoting traditional system of Amchi medicines in Ladakh for over two decades now. A couple, Ton and MariĆ«lla Klooster, from Netherlands founded ‘Stichting Hulp aan Nubra’ foundation in 1997 and since then this foundation together with Lha-Rje Sorig Foundation organised many such free medical camps in different villages of Nubra and Chanthang.
