LEH: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur called upon Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare in New Delhi yesterday. The LG updated the Minister about the Covid-19 status in Ladakh of the active cases, recovery and the ongoing inoculation drive being carried out in a phased manner starting with front-line workers in Leh and Kargil districts.LG Mathur spoke about the importance of having Mobile clinics and telemedicine facilities in Ladakh considering the remoteness and sparse location of small hamlets across the region. He also made the suggestion to bring doctors from the rest of the country to Ladakh on a rotational basis or to organise medical camps at regular intervals.The Lt. Governor held a meeting with V. Vidyavathi, DG, Archaeological Survey of India followed by a meeting with INTACH officials. LG Mathur discussed the restoration and conservation of built heritage like forts, etc. in Ladakh and developing a scientific inventory of petroglyphs found in numerous places in the region.On a similar line, he discussed with INTACH of their help and expertise in conserving the forts, shrines, Imambarghas and archaeological sites in Ladakh. He also spoke about the scope of exploring tourism potentials based on the history of Silk Route and Ladakh as an important offshoot of it. Documentation of war histories and developing audio-visuals and written publications on war histories, dissemination of political history and cultural history of Ladakh was also discussed.
