Lawyers Action Committee meets Farooq Abdullah, submits memo



JAMMU: In furtherance of its decision to meet all political parties and social organisations, a delegation of Lawyers Action Committee (LAC) met Dr Farooq Abdullah, MP and former Chief Minister at his Jammu residence and submitted a memorandum regarding issues of shifting of registration work from judicial to revenue officers, closure of consumer courts, closure of forums under Human Rights Act, RTI Act, Accountability Act etc.
The delegation comprised H C Jalmeria (convener of Action Committee), A K Sawhney (former Bar president), J A Kazmi (Former Bar Vice president), Rajinder Kumar Chanyal, Meharban Singh, Kunal Singh Chib, Gourab Sharma and Warris Gill. Dr Farooq Abdullah assured visiting lawyers that he and his party fully support issues raised by them and would take up the matter with Union Law Minister and LG of J&K. NC leaders, Devinder Singh Rana and Rattan Lal Gupta were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the agitation of lawyers practicing in Jammu wing of J&K High Court and Subordinate Courts completed 96 days.
