Lawyers Action Committee continues protest in support of demands

JAMMU: The ongoing protest of lawyers practicing in Jammu wing of J&K High Court and Subordinate Courts completed 65 days on Friday. The lawyers held a Dharna in Janipura Courts Complex in support of their demands. The Lawyers Action Committee carrying ahead agitation since October 15, 2020 in protest against continued closure of their entry into High Court completely and partially in Subordinate Courts besides no entry of public since March end this year and on few other issues.
The 8-point demand charter of lawyers included, opening of all courts for physical entry to lawyers and public, resume physical hearing, accepting hard copies of cases, opening locked Bar Rooms of lawyers, providing stamp papers and tickets within court premises through stamp vendors, immediate opening of Consumer Courts, shifting back Registry of Documents to Judicial Officers, withdrawing contempt initiated against some lawyers and Holding immediate election to the J&K Bar Council.
The protest was attended by advocates J A Kazmi (former vice president), O P Sharma, H C Jalmeria Convener of Action Committee, C S Gupta (Former Secretary Jammu Bar), Baldev Singh, Vinod Abrol, B R Sharma (Former Vice President Jammu Bar), Rajinder Kumar Chanyal, S S Chib, Kulbhushan Sajgotra, M L Gupta, J P Sharma, Rameshwar S Jamwal, Shah Mohd Choudhary, Subodh Singh Jamwal, A S Azad, K S Parihar, R S Dursuwal, Manohar Gupta, Madan Lal, Meharban Singh, K S Chib, Surjit Singh Andotra, Sunit S Jamwal, Rajiv Kumar Sharma, S C Sharma, Amit Gupta, Manohar Lal, Jatinder Singh, Abdul Rouf Lone, S K Rao, Harish Kaila, Arvind Jalmeria, Mulk Raj, Arun Gandotra, Zahida Parveen, Gourab Sharma, Atul Raina, Manvika Koushal, Vikrant Sharma and A M Khan.
