REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) is playing a significant role in providing the expertise to the farmers of Reasi and Udhampur distts. amid COVID-19 pandemic. At this time the farmers have sowing the Kharif season crops and they need the technical advice for managing their crops so that they get maximum crop production even during COVID-19 pandemic.
KVK, Reasi scientists have come forward to provide the technical advice on scientific management of maize, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, fruits, fodder, aromatic and medicinal plants, value addition in agriculture, waste flowers management etc. to the farmers so that they can reap the maximum benefits of Kharif season. KVK scientists are also facilitating the farmers to sale their farm produce.
KVK, Reasi scientists are making the best possible use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to upgrade the technical knowledge of the farmers even from the far-flung areas of both Reasi and Udhampur districts. KVK, Reasi scientists are endevouring to minimize the cost of cultivation at this critical time when the farmers are having limited resources by promoting the organic farming.KVK is stressing on eco-friendly agriculture by using the locally available agro-inputs. Organic methods have been suggested for the treatment of various diseases and insects-pests in various crops and farmers have been guided on the organic formulations. According to Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi our major objective is to upgrade the technical knowledge and skills of the farmers so that they can enhance the quality and quantity of their crops production.
KVK, Reasi is also consistently guiding the farmers on hand hygiene, mask wearing, social distancing and vaccination so that they can protect themselves from lethal coronavirus.
