Justice Magrey inaugurates Legal Literacy Club at Leh

LEH: Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Senior Judge Common High Court of Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, member of National Legal Services Authority, who has been recently nominated as the Executive Chairman for newly established UT of Ladakh Legal Services Authority (UTLLSA), on his two day tour of Leh-Ladakh, inaugurated Legal Literacy Club at EJM Degree College Leh on Sunday.
After inaugurating the Legal Literacy Club, the Executive Chairman inspired the students to enrich themselves with legal literacy for their empowerment and with the knowledge attained one should apprise all people of society. The students, who are members of this important Legal Literacy Club, are having an onus duty towards the society in shaping of Union Territory of Ladakh, he added. Justice Magrey further said that it is their duty to make people aware about rights and duties as envisaged in constitution and Article 39-A of the Constitution of India, which guarantees free legal aid irrespective of caste, class and religion. Speaking on the occasion, R S Jasrotia, Chairman DLSA (Pr Distt & Sessions Judge) highlighted importance and the functions of the Legal Literacy Club.
Later, the executive Chairman formally inaugurated the UT of Ladakh Legal Services Authority (LLSA) at Dambuchan Leh. The inaugural ceremony was also attended by R S Jasrotia Chairman DLSA Leh, Commissioner Secretary A K Sahu, Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas, Administrative Secretary Law Preetpal Singh, Mohd Shafi lassu President Bar Leh, DC and SSP Leh. Executive Chairman also held a meeting with Administration of UT Ladakh in the evening regarding role of LLSA and took up the grievances of the advocates, members of ICPS and judicial infrastructure, with administration for early redressal.
