SUCHETGARH: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) held a meeting at village Kaloyein, Tehsil Suchetgarh, Jammu on Monday and urged upon Justice (Retd.) Ranjna Parkash Desia, Chairperson Delimitation Commission to seek suggestion from other suffering sections of society particularly DPs of 1947 from POK besides political parties before taking a final call on the demarcation of constituencies. The participants also appealed the Chairperson to carve out two constituencies for DPs, claiming for their representation in the legislative assembly to represent the aspirations of DPs awaiting final settlement despite a lapse of more than 7 decade period.Addressing the meeting Gurdev Singh President JKSAC alongwith Dwarka Nath Khajuria said that the Commission has completed the task of data collection process to carve out the new constituencies on the basis of 2011 census and are likely to come to J&K to seek the suggestions of various political parties for the demarcation of the constituencies.Expressing his concern Gurdev Singh said that despite of several representations made by DPs in this regard no feedback has been taken from them yet. The Commission has been apprised through the representation that DPs are the most suffering section of the society and their legitimate grievances with regard to final settlement has been ignored and denied by all the Govts. It happened only for the simple reason that they are political orphans and have no representation in the legislature to represent their people and regretted that MPs and MLAs of various parties whom they always voted to power did not care for them after winning the elections. He said that DPs were very hopeful that reorganization act of 2019 will take care of their long awaiting legitimate demand to de-freeze the 8 assembly seats out of remaining 24 reserved for people of POJK as the same has been captivated all along since their migration without any logic and justification. Others who spoke in the meeting are Tarlok Singh Tara, Des Raj (Ex Sarpanch), Jasbir Singh (Panch), Ch. Shail Singh, Bhagwan Singh and Hardial Singh.
