SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council is not only a well-prepared organisation to tackle any tough situation quite comfortably, but is also working to create a ray of hope for those young and energetic with adventurous minded aspirants, who are in trauma like situation during present COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, even though these people had never any contact with the deadly and dangerous virus, or not even suffering any kind of symptoms.At present, most health experts themselves are facing trauma situation like other sections of society, which is the reason they are continuously appealing to the parents especially those whose wards are more conscious about their education, activities and other workouts. In this challenging situation where everybody is in trauma, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, in present scenario, playing a vital role to keep athletes focused and not lose any aim.Mental orientation programmes are being conducted through online mode by council. Besides this, online training programmes are being held for athletes to keep them well-prepared for upcoming events and competitions post pandemic.It was revealed by Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, while talking to STATE TIMES. She told that not only these activities but pre-recorded videos covering around 20 sports disciplines, by in-house and some professional coaches of Sports Authority of India are being broadcasted through their official website, www.jksportscouncil.com, and other social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Nuzhat Gul further told that besides all this, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council is making available live streaming of coaching sessions on their official Facebook page. The council expects that these high-quality programmes would be game-changer for learners and other athletes besides helping in bridging gap between trainees and their coaches on mass level and connecting both urban and rural areas. The Secretary further said that council is playing a tremendous job to highlight its activities during the lockdown period. The council is focusing on activities of all those children who are much more eager to come out in open fields and participate in different types of sports activities. She said, “As a Secretary of Sports Council, I, myself, am very much keen to provide high quality of coaching to those athletes who are unable to come out of their homes during present challenging situation.” She said that department is not only providing coaching regarding different sports events but their experts are also trying to guide sportspersons how to maintain their mental health in the ongoing time of crisis, besides improving mental fitness and creating a stress-free atmosphere.The Secretary Sports Council further said that council is not only committed to provide better coaching facilities to those athletes who are already in sports field but would feel honored if new talent would come up and join the council, as our aim is to facilitate all those aspirants, who are in their initial stage of career.“Council would like to guide them more efficiently, so that next generation can produce a proud moment for Jammu & Kashmir. Extra-ordinary challenges need extra ordinary solutions, and there was an ardent need to think out of box. We feel that online sports activities can act as beacon and connect people from all across J&K, with involvement of professionals,” said Nuzhat Gul. She also expressed gratitude towards administration and entire staff of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council for their help and support in conduct of successful programmes. Pertinent to mention here that LG Manoj Sinha has also appreciated the role of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council for organising series of online lectures. Not only this, Union Minister for Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has also been following programme and has appreciated the same.
