Vikram Randhawa, Former MLC: We appreciate the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in holding an All Party meeting with the mainstream leaders. The stress on restoring statehood and delimitation exercise for holding elections is an important milestone of the meeting. We are hopeful that the delimitation process will get pace and soon it will be completed, paving the way for conducting assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. PM Modi is committed for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. I hope there will be a new ray of hope and now new employment opportunities will be here. People are happy with the abrogation of Article 370 and are looking forward for development. PM Modi has said that statehood will be restored and we also have full faith that soon Jammu Kashmir will get statehood.
Javed Rana, Former MLC, NC: All Party Meet was a good decision and in the meeting party leadership has conveyed the issue of Article 370 and we will fight for it. All issues are related to it. Moreover, we welcome this dialogue process as we believe dialogue can solve all issues. Also, we welcome delimitation but we demand statehood and it needs to be restored soon. Article 370 was a part of the constitution and we all need to respect it. It provided land and job security to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. It was our identity and people need to understand it. Government needs to consider the aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir. We will fight for the interests of our people.
Tushar Mahajan, Gen Secy Chamber of Traders Federation: We welcome the step taken by PM Modi to break the ice and start the dialogue process, but it is heartbreaking that no major decision was taken in the meeting. We were hoping for something big and some good decisions for Jammu but it is sad that in this meeting the issues faced by the people of Jammu were totally ignored. We all were expecting some major decisions and announcements. The grievances of the people of Jammu were not addressed or discussed in the meeting. The BJP leaders, who represented Jammu in the meeting, were present there only like puppets and no issue of Jammu people was highlighted. The meeting failed to meet the aspirations of the people of Jammu. Moreover, it is sad that no traders’ representation was there in this meeting. I request all to work for the interest of people and not for their own vested interests. We, as traders, demand that our businesses should be saved.
