J&K High Court Bar Association holds meet, discusses issues



JAMMU: J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu held a special General House meeting on Tuesday in open lawn of High Court of J&K, Janipur under chairmanship of Sr Advocate Ved Raj Wazir, Chairman, Presidium J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu, which was attended by majority of members.
The members of Presidium JKHCBAJ namely S D S Saini, former President Surinder Singh, M K Bhardwaj, Sunil Sethi, M A Goni, Radha Sharma, Mandep Reen, Pawan Manni and Nitin Bakshi were also present in the meeting.
Various pointes discussed during the meeting included amendment of Constitution of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu, financial power to Presidium to utilize ¼ of Bar Funds for providing financial Assistance to needy members of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu etc.
All members of presidium spoke on agenda points and gave their valuable suggestions for betterment of the Bar Association and holding of elections of Bar Association and amendment of Constitution.
The members, while speaking in the house, assured that elections of Bar shall be held in mid March 2021. The House has also decided that only the practicing lawyers who are practicing at Jammu would be given voting rights. The members of Presidium have been authorised by the General House to utilise 1/4th of Bar Funds for providing Financial Assistance to needy members.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Jamel Ahmed Qazmi, M U Salaria, Surjit Singh Andotra, Abrar Ahmed Khan, Varun Kotwal and Nitin Bakshi.
All the members also observed two minutes silence in memory of members of the Bar Association who lost their lives during pandemic and offered condolences on demise of Advocate Jyoti Parkash Sharma, who died on January 10, 2021.
