J&K Govt to deploy School Education staff for COVID-19 duties



JAMMU: In view of newly discovered Variant B. 1.1.529 (Omicron), the government on Tuesday decided to deploy School Education Department staff for COVID-19 duties.
The government order stated that earlier Divisional Commissioner Kashmir/Jammu and Deputy Commissioners (Chairperson DDMAs) have setup COVID-19 Control Rooms (State Emergency Operation Centre/District Emergency Operation Centres) and have deployed staff of School Education Department for containment/management of COVID-19 outbreak in the UT of J&K.
“School Education Department vide Government Order No. 1691-JK(EDU) of 2021 dated December 10, 2021 under endorsement no. EDU-ADM/129/2021-04 dated: December 10, 2021 ordered the cancellation of attachment of all teaching staff who have been deployed/attached for different administrative works in different Departments/ Districts of UT of J&K,” the order stated.
Now, after a detailed review meeting regarding current COVID-19 situation was held in Jammu by the Chief Secretary (Chairman SEC) J&K with the ACS (Finance), ACS (H&ME), Principal Secretary (Home), Principal Secretary (PWD) R&B, ADG/IGs, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, District Superintendents of Police and other Officers of Jammu & Kashmir on December 18 and 24, 2021, it was decided that there is a need to continue and further strengthen the existing COVID-19 containment measures in all Districts in view of newly discovered Variant B. 1.1.529 (Omicron).
Therefore, the order stated, “The State Executive Committee (SEC), in exercise of powers conferred upon it under the Section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 orders that deployment of additional staff for COVID -19 containment /mitigation efforts by concerned District Disaster Management Authorities shall continue in UT of J&K.”
“The concerned Deputy Commissioners (Chairper-sons DDMAs) in consultation with respective Chief Education Officers of the district shall issue detailed specific orders under Disaster Management Act, 2005 for the deployment of School Education Department staff below the rank of Lecturer to perform COVID-19 containment/ mitigation duties,” the order further stated and added for performing COVID-19 duties the deployment shall be for a period of three months only and not more than one staff member from a single School shall be deployed while deployment shall be of non-repetitive staff members.
“A copy of each detailed specific deployment Order containing names/present posting/ designation of the staff deployed shall be sent to the School Education Department as well as to Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction,” the order reads.
