JeM terrorist, 3 associates arrested; arms, ammunition recovered



JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Kulgam Police on Wednesday arrested an active terrorist of JeM and also three terrorist associates and recovered incriminating materials including arms and ammunition from their possession. While in another catch, police arrested an ISJK operative arrested from outskirts of Jammu.
Acting on a specific information regarding movement of terrorists a special checkpoint was established by Police along with security forces at village Bogund. During checking of vehicles, three persons aboard a Maruti Alto vehicle were signalled to stop, who on seeing the search party tried to escape from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert joint party.
Moreover, another associate of them was separately apprehended from the checkpoint.
The active terrorist has been identified as Zeyan Javid Dar, son of Javid Ahmad Dar, resident of Ushkuru Baramulla while as terrorist associates have been identified as Zahid Nazir Mantoo, son of Nazir Ahmad Mantoo; Umer Yousuf Bhat, son of Mohd Yousuf Bhat, both residents of Feeripora Shopian and Muzaffar Ahmad Banday, son of Mohd Sadiq Banday, resident of Mandujan Shopian. As per police records they were affiliated with proscribed terror outfit JeM.
During search, incriminating material including arms and ammunitions were recovered from their possession. A case vide FIR No. 53/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police has arrested an operative of Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir, a J&K-based terror outfit named after the dreaded organisation IS.
The fresh arrest of the terror outfit’s operative followed ten days after the apprehension of its top commander Malik Umair alias Abdullah from Jhajjar Kotli near here.
Jammu zone Inspector General of Police Mukesh Singh identified the newly arrested ISJK operative as Aqib Bashir Parrey alias Assadullah, a resident of Unisoo village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. He was working as an ISJK operative in Kashmir on the directions of his ISJK commanders, Singh said in a brief statement.
Abdullah, a resident of Yaripora village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district was arrested by special operations group of Jammu police from Jhajjar Kotli on Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
He was arrested on April 4 and was found in possession of a pistol, eight live cartridges and Rs 1.13 lakh in cash. Assadullah was arrested following Abdullah’s interrogation, IGP Singh said.
