JAMMU: A meeting of the Election committee was held under the Chairmanship of Advocate Surinder Singh to reassess the situation for the holding of elections of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu which were deferred due to COVID-19 pandemic and situation in Jammu becoming very serious, the High Court vide notification dated April 5, 2021 discontinued physical hearing and which has been further extended till 30th of April 2021.The committee also considered the Orders issued by the District Magistrate Jammu Dated April 18, 2021 issuing fresh guidelines for the assembly of persons in various functions indoor and outdoor whereby the ceiling of number of persons permitted to attend gatherings/functions and also imposed night curfew in the City of Jammu.The Committee also considered the health and safety of the members of the Bar and keeping in view all the parameters and the seriousness of the prevailing situation in the country and particularly in the city of Jammu due to COVID-19, and decided that it is not in the interest of members of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu to hold elections at present.The Committee unanimously decided to reassemble and reassess the situation again on May 15, 2021 to decide the date of election.
