Jammu Bar announces election schedule

JAMMU: A meeting of the Presidium was held on Friday under the Chairmanship of Ved Raj Wazir, Sr. Adv wherein it has been unanimously decided to announce schedule and procedure for Election to the office bearers of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu.
As per schedule, the date of issuance of Election notification is April 1, last date of filing application form is April 10, date of withdrawal of nomination is April 15 and date of Election, if needed, is April 24, 2021.
The holding of election subject to conditions that at least 50 per cent strength or 1500 Bar members should have deposited their subscription fee by or before the date of nomination withdrawal, failing which Election process would be deferred and decision taken accordingly. The voters list will be prepared as per decision taken by the Special General House and will be restricted to the eligible voters as per decision of the Special General House Meeting dated January 12, 2021.
It has also been unanimously decided that 50 per cent monthly subscription fee would be waived off for members whose practice is less than 10 years, prior to the date of Election Notification.
Adv Surinder Singh, Former President ( Member of the Presidium) is nominated as Returning Officer to initiate and hold process of Election.
He may associate any member/ member(s) to assist him in holding election process.
All the members of the Presidium resigned forthwith and powers will be vested to the Returning Officer who will make arrangement for running the affairs of Bar Association till the new team takes over.
