J&K ANTF seizes 6,000 bottles of psychotropic drugs; nabs two smugglers


Inter-state drug racket busted in Jammu


JAMMU: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir police, specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs, achieved another success on Tuesday when it foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of Psychotropic substances viz Chloro Phenamine Maleate and Codiene Phosphate bottles from Delhi to Srinagar and nabbed two smugglers.
ANTF Jammu received specific information that a truck (PB08CP-5896) is coming from New Delhi to Jammu and shall be moving further to Kashmir Valley, ANTF SSP Vinay Sharma said.
On this information, the ANTF team led by ANTF DySP Arun Jamwal immediately swung into action and laid naka, he said adding that the truck was intercepted and during its search, ANTF team recovered huge quantity of Psychotropic Substances (6,000 bottles of Chlorophenamine Maleate Codiene Phosphate locally called Corex) and branded as Babyrex and Welcyrex concealed in 50 boxes and arrested two persons including driver Karan Kumar, son of Balram Kumar, resident of Balachor and Co-driver Yashpal, son of Charan Dass, resident of village Karawar, Balachor, Distt Nawasher in Punjab.
FIR has been registered under relevant sections of law and ANTF is investigating further details of this Interstate drug racket including the forward and backward linkages of these drug smugglers, SSP Vinay said adding that more arrests are expected.
“This is one of the biggest seizure of such drugs in JK UT in recent times,” he said.
He appealed general public to share more such information of drug dealers so that this menace is uprooted from the society.
