JAMMU: International Yoga Day was celebrated at JK Public School Kunjwani with Manik Salathia, Yoga Teacher and Acupressure Therapists.Keeping in sync with this year’s theme “Yoga for Wellness”, Manik demonstrated how practicing yoga can bring about all round wellness.The programme was organized with a few staff members in the school while it streamed live on School Facebook page, and was joined by the students and parents in the safe vicinity of their homes.The programme commenced with prayers followed by Suksham Vyayama, Asanas, Pranayam (Breathing Techniques), Dhyan (Meditation), Laughing and Yogic Clapping (Acupressure Clapping).Certain acupressure points related to knees, eyes and cervical were also discussed.Before this, in the run up to Yoga Day, the students were guided and mentored online by the School PHE Teacher, Anita Wangoo.
The online school portals were flooded with yoga videos of students performing various Asanas and Pranayams at home. These were also streamed on the Facebook page creating an environment for healthy practices and well being.The School Vice Principal Shashi Rattan speaking on the occasion expressed the importance of physical and mental well being. She also stated that JK Public School has the best sports infrastructure and a large team of coaches but due to the pandemic and the students being at home, it is only activities like yoga that can be practiced easily at home. She appreciated Manik Salathia for his participation and guidance and said it is the youth of today who are going to take our ancient practices ahead and help in recreating that century’s old wisdom.The School Principal, Vandana Sharma thanked Manik for his support and guidance.
