International Yoga Day celebrated across region

SAMBA: Government Degree College Samba celebrated Second International Yoga Day in college premises in which around 100 NCC cadets from GDC Samba, GDC Kathua, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Govt. MAM College and SPMR College of Commerce performed yoga. On this event, Yoga Instructor Mangal Sharma highlighted the importance of various Yog Assans such as Kapal Bhaati, Anulom Vilom, Braahmri etc. The whole event was organised under the supervision of Dr. Rawan Kumar NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Yash Paul Singh NCC Officer, PO Raj Kumar, GCI Ekta Sharma and LRO Ajay Veer Singh Jasrotia. Principal of College Dr. Romesh Chander complimented the participants and advised them to emulate yoga practice as their routine habit. Other staff members who were present on the occasion included Dr. Dalbir Singh, Dr. Veer Koul, Prof. Jagdish Kumar and Prabhat Singh.
Meanwhile, as per directions of Minister for Health Bali Bhagat and order of Director Health Services Jammu Dr Baljeet Pathania and Chief Medical Officer Samba Dr Rajeev Sharma, International Yoga Day was organised at Accident Hospital Ghagwal, wherein all officers and officials of Accidental Hospital Ghagwal led by Dr Arun Sharma Incharge and Dr Sandeep Raina Incharge Medical Officer participated. A large number of locals from Ghagwal also took part in the programme and learnt various types of Asana and their benefits.
Dr Rajesh Sharma Ayurvedic Doctor at Accident Hospital Ghagwal who has been trained at Pitanjali Yog Peeth was the instructor and Naresh Gupta CHO Accident Hospital Ghagwal provided commentary and benefits of various Yog Asanas.
RAJOURI : The National Development Organisation J and K celebrated International Day of Yoga after completion of one month yoga camp at different places of Rajouri District. Zulifkar Malik , Chairman National Development Organisation J and K welcome the participants and resources persons. Shabir Ahmed Sarpanch presided over the function; Gurdev Singh Thakur Advocate and Ronak Sharma Advocate were Special Guests. Sarpanch Arshad Malik , Sarpanch Amin Malik and Sarpanch Zakir Malik also attended the function. General Secretary Abrar Malik thanked the participants and administration for cooperation.
AKHNOOR: Second World Yoga Day was celebrated at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Akhnoor for Boys and was organised by 2nd Battalion of National Cadet Corps (NCC) Boys Jammu and with the support and collaboration of Yoga Sansthan Jammu in which more the two hundred NCC cadets, students, principal and staff of the school participated.
Principal of the GHSS J.K Padha presided over the function, Suresh Kumar Gupta was the special invitee in the function from Yoga Sansthan Jammu.
THANNAMANDI: Govt. Degree College Thannamandi under the aegis of NSS unit of the college celebrated International Yoga Day in which large no of NSS volunteers and staff participated. Rukshar Ahmed Bhat Sports Teacher of School Education Department delivered a technical lecture and made the students aware regarding some yogic exercises. Principal of College Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the programme.
Earlier the programe started with recitation of few verses of Holy Quran by Rehana Bashir. NSS Programme Officer Prof. Saleem Ayaz Rather presented the welcome address, while Sajad Ahmed Lecturer presented the formal vote of thanks. Farha Samyal an NSS Volunter conducted the proceedings of the programme.
RAMBAN: Second International Yoga Day was observed in Maitra Park on Tuesday.
The programme was organised by Patanjali Yog Peeth Ramban in collaboration with Ayush and in coordination with district administration Ramban.
Chief Planning Officer, Parshotam Kumar Dy. CMO, Dr. Iqbal, Nodal Officer Ayush, Shashi Kant Sharma, President Patanjli Yoga Samthi Ramban, Amar Chand, Bharat Swabhiman Trust District President Rajinder Singh, Yog Pracharak, Yashpal Khajuria besides media incharge Madan Lal inaugurated the yoga camp by lighting the sacred Jyoti.
Doctors, members of Patanjli Yog Peeth Ramban, Army officers, prominent citizens and a huge gathering of Yoga experts and learners also participated in the occasion.
A 45 minute yoga session was organised by Dr. Masood Zargar and yoga instructors of Patangli Yoga Peeth in which all the participants showed their keen interest in learning of Vyayam and Pranayama which is the control of Prana through the breath.
Similar Yaga Camp was also held at Bharatiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) High School, Ramban in which patron, principal and staff member besides students participated. While yoga camp was also organised at Batote, Ukhral, Balihote, Chanderkote.
KATHUA: Som Datt Zard, District Youth Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kathua in collaboration with district administration and Ayush observed second International Day of Yoga at Sports Stadium in befitting manner.
Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua was Chief Guest, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner, Kathua and Khalil Ahmed Poswal, Additional Superintended of Police, Ajay Sharma DSP (HQ) Avtar Singh Jasrotia Tehsildar Kathua were Guests of Honour besides various other dignitaries and senior officers attended the yoga session.
Yoga exercises were performed by Dr. Vishal Malagar, Dr. Guru Parshad, Anuja Jasrotia under the guidance of AYUSH Kathua and Dr. Suresh Sharma was commentator for performance.
Meanwhile, on second International Yoga Day 2016, NSS unit of Govt. HSS Budhi organised a simple but impressive programme in the premises of the school. Principal Naresh Sharma was the Chief Guest. The whole programme was organised by NSS Programme Officer Dharam Paul Lect. in Hindi in which the yoga expert Bodh Raj Lect. in Hindi HSS Jakhbar was also present. More than 100 NSS volunteers, staff members, students also took part in the function.
Principal Naresh Sharma appreciated the efforts of NSS team and Programme Officer Dharam Paul. Others present on the occasion were Jaibharat, Bua Ditta, Satish Chandel, Pankaj Sharma, Upinder Singh, Ravi Kant, Nitin Singh and Sushil Sharma.
On ninth day of CATCJ3 camp going on at Police Training School Kathua, the second International Yoga Day was celebrated. The NCC Cadets assembled in the training ground to perform Yoga at 6:00 PM. Principal PTS, SSP Sanjeev Khajuria, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and welcomed by the Camp Commandant Lt. Sandeep Chaudhary. Experts from Pathanjali Yoga Perth, comprising of Sunita Kumari, the District Incharge of Mahila Pathanjali Yog Samiti Kathua and Kames Sharia, Tehsil Inch performed many Asanas pertaining g to yoga.
REASI: The Rashtriya Rifles Battalions based at Talwara, Gool, Bagga, Samote, Kalal, Jhangar and Kalakote celebrated the International Yoga Day with an endeavour to promote the ancient discipline in providing a holistic approach to preventive healthcare.
Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and jawans participated in the yoga sessions which have been incorporated as an important part of the training curriculum in the army.
UDHAMPUR: International Yoga Day was celebrated at Udhampur under the aegis of Northern Command.
Approx 1,500 soldiers and families attended the same with great enthusiasm.
Qualified Yoga instructors assisted in performance of yogic Asans. Various Yoga camps were also conducted by army units and formations in Northern Command across the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir to commemorate International Yoga Day.
As a part of celebration of World Yoga Day, various organisations including 15Bn of ITBP Padanoo, Bhartiya Yog Sansthan (BYS), Manav Utthan Seva Simiti (MUSS), students of Kendriya Vidyala Chenani, Govt. officials and many more celebrated the day with great gaiety and zest in Udhampur.
All officers and jawans of 15bn of ITBP celebrated world Yoga Day with great gaiety in the premises of camp at Padanoo in Udhampur. While volunteers of Bharitya Yog Sasthan (BYS) also organised a mega yoga camp in the premises of Old Age Home in Udhampur. Yoga Experts Chajju Ram Shastri, Hans Raj Khajuria and Vikram Singh Slathia also practiced yoga exercises and typical Yog Kriya with full devotion. Deputy Commissioner Niraj Kumar also participated in yoga camp.
A yoga camp was organised in the premises Maa Rajeshwari Ashram in Udhampur wherein large number of devotees of MUSS participated. The camp was organised under the guidance of Sadvi Samta Bai Ji.
Students of Kendriya Vidyala Chenani also celebrated the World Yoga Day with great fun and zest. Yoga camp was organised under the supervision of principal of Vidayla O.P Mandal in the premises of Vidayla. In another celebration Pitanjali Yog Peeth also organised a Yog Shivar in Udhampur.
Government Degree College Pooonch Principal Prof Tejinder Singh along with staff and students celebrated Second International Yoga Day at Govt Degree College Poonch. Yoga experts demonstrated yoga exercise and all followed them with great zeal and enthusiasm. Function remained quite satisfactory inspite of holiday.
NOWSHERA: A yoga camp was also held in Thakurdwara Khooh Wala under the supervision of local Yoga Expert Ashok Kumar in which a large number of participants performed yoga.
Ashok Kumar in his address said that embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfillment.
International Yoga Day was observed at Dashnami Akhara Poonch. Hundreds of people participated and did yoga on the occasion. The day was celebrated by Ayush in collaboration with various social and religious organisations.
A yoga camp was organised by Bharat Swabhiman trust and Patanjali Yoga Samiti in the premises of General Zorawar Singh Stadium Reasi.
The District Development Commissioner Reasi Ravinder Kumar was the Chief Guest on this occasion while Senior Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar was the Guest of Honour.
Many officers of different departments ,school children, women and prominent citizens participated in various yoga sessions.
KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra celebrated the International Yoga Day on Tuesday. A yoga and mediation practice session was organised at 5:30 AM in the lawn wherein more than 25 persons including faculty, staff and their family members and students participated.
The yoga session was led by Gurmel, Yoga Instructor and Junior Assistant in the Security Office. Various Asanas were practiced.
Dr. Varun Tripathi, Associate Professor, Department of Philosophy and Culture led the practice of meditation. The session concluded with a laughing exercise.
KATRA: As part of celebration of the Second International Day of Yoga, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organised a yoga event at its Sports Complex at Katra this morning.
A number of children, prominent citizens, people of the area, pilgrims, officers and staff of the Shrine Board and officers and jawans of CRPF participated in the yoga event.
Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, started the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
A series of Asanas and Pranayam were performed under the supervision of Yoga Expert Dayal Ram.
