RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, planted a Chinar tree on Sunday to mark the International Day of Forests which is observed every year on March 21.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dhirendra Sharma, DFO Ramban, Rajan Singh and many other senior officers were present on the occasion.Highlighting the importance of World Forestry Day, the Deputy Commissioner underlined the importance of understanding the values, significance and contributions of the forests to balance life cycle on the earth.He sought cooperation from public representatives, community organizations and the general public in addressing issues like deforestation and denudation which pose a serious challenge to our green wealth.The Deputy Commissioner asked the people to celebrate the International Forests Day by understanding that forests protect and sustain us. He also urged the general public to undertake various activities like tree planting campaigns, photo exhibitions and sharing of messages and information through social media to generate awareness about forest conservation.After conducting plantation drive at Gool, DFO, Ramban , informed that more than 1.42 lacs plants like Deodar, Kail, Chir, Banj and other species have been planted by the Ramban Division in newly established closures across the district during the current financial year. SDPO Gool and various other officers also participated in the programme.Forest Division, Batote also observed World Forestry Day today in block Gandhri, DFO, Batote informed that about 1.76 lakh saplings have been planted across the Division at various places in the Forest Division, Batote since October 2020.Similarly, Social Forestry Division, celebrated the day in collaboration with NGO Nation First in various panchyats in which the DFO Social Forestry, Ramban, Mahesh Thakur, Chairman Nation First NGO Sh. Neeraj Singh Chib, PRIs from Panchayat Kanga, Maitra Govindpora , Bagna, Seri , Sumber and Rajgarh besides other volunteers participated.On the occasion saplings of different species were planted, participants were also provided Plants.POONCH: Social Forestry Division Poonch in collaboration with NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Poonch celebrated World Forestry Day 2021 in premises of Boys Hostel. Principal District & Sessions Judge Poonch Madan Lal was the Chief Guest. Others present during the occasion were Vice Principal GDC Poonch Khadim Hussain, DFO Social Forestry Poonch Naveed Iqbal, Hostel Warden Prof. Fateh Mohd Abbasi, other college staff, students and staff of Social Forestry Range Poonch headed by Range Officer, Mohd Hussain. DFO Social Forestry briefed about the purpose of celebration of 21st March as World Forestry Day 2021. Chief Guest while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of trees & forest cover for environment, health, economy of individuals & nations. He stressed on the younger generations to get involved in environmental conservation & tree plantation and appealed media to disseminate this message for all.
