JAMMU: Apni Party Senior Leader Shanker Singh Chib on Monday expressed serious concern over the prevailing situation due to the pandemic in Jammu division.
In a statement issued here, Chib said that the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu has made the people apprehensive and it appears that the government machinery has failed to contain the spread of this virus which has consumed so many precious lives. He said that every single day a new spike record is witnessed in the increase of infected COVID-19 cases across Jammu, as the health department had adopted a complacent policy and thus remained unprepared to tackle the wrath of this virus.
He said that the vaccination drives need to be increased and immunization teams should be constituted like in polio vaccination drives and dispatched to every nook and corner of J&K.
He also condemned the callousness and laxity of the administration and health authorities over the mishandling of the second COVID-19 wave due to which many people have lost their loved ones.
He further demanded that an adequate number of oxygen beds and ventilators should be made available to the people in this situation and the sick people should be taken care of.
Chib also asserted that the COVID lockdown has badly affected the labour class and the government must announce some relief schemes for their families in order to mitigate their sufferings. They must be provided food and other essential commodities during the pandemic crisis.
He urged the Lt. Governor of J&K to intervene and look up into the critical situation so that the lives of people are saved from this lethal disease.
