BHADARWAH: Police on Friday seized huge quantity of illegal timber in Nalthi village of District Bhadarwah.In a statement issued here, Police said that acting on a specific information about timber being extracted illegally from green-cedar trees and dumped in newly constructed huts near Nalthi village on Bhadarwah-Pathankot National Highway, a team from Police Station Bhadarwah led by SP Raj Singh Gouria raided the premises and recovered large quantity of timber, logs and mechanical planner.SP Bhadarwah Raj Singh Gouria said that an information was received from reliable sources at about 1615 Hrs that a person namely Shabir Ahmad, resident of Chinar Mohallah Bhadarwah along with Mohd Yasin, son of Shams Din Bhat, resident of Chinayas Tehsil Pingle, at present Nalthi Bhadarwah, are involved in business of illegal sale of timber. “Acting swiftly, a police team reached the spot at Nalthi area of Bhadarwah, where illegal timber was dumped in newly constructed huts,” SP said, adding that the timber along with some equipments have been seized on the spot. The recovery included 7 slippers, 41 Kandails, 10 Fattas, 2 wooden logs, 1 Mechanical Planner and 1 Plasa Machine (wood-cutter). “In this regard, a case vide FIR No 140/2020 under Section 379 of IPC and 6 of Forest Act has been registered at Police Station Bhadarwah against Shabbir Ahmed and Mohd Yasin,” Gouria informed, adding that further investigation is going on.
