JAMMU: IIM Jammu conducted its first-ever Alumni meet Sunday to strengthen the bond between the alumni and the institute and create an agenda for the development of the whole IIM Jammu community. The event started with a welcoming of all the dignitaries and the alumni, followed by a formal introduction of all the faculty members, officers, alumni, and the alumni committee members of IIM Jammu.Prof. B.S Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, expressed his vision of making IIM Jammu a global institute. Current developments in the institute like the commencement of the Ph.D program in the institute and various initiatives like newsletter were also addressed by him.He explained the role of social media and quality IT infrastructure in the development of the institute. Prof. Manoj Kumar, Chairperson MBA and Prof. Jabir Ali, Chairperson Placement emphasized the importance of alumni association with the institute in mentoring the current students, extending internships and placement opportunities to them as well as helping in the development of course curriculum which meets the needs of the industry.A down the memory lane section was coordinated by Prof. Jabir Ali where the alumni relived the memories while being the students of the institute. Prof. Aakash Kamble, Chairperson Alumni briefed about the current developments in IIM Jammu along with a walkthrough of the proposed new campus of the institute.Thereafter, an open platform for discussion was set wherein the alumni put forth their views and opinions regarding the branding of the institute, the importance of communication between alumni and students, conducting leadership summits, and imparting more industrial exposure to the students.Prof. Aakash Kamble also provided his guidance for the usage of the Alma connect portal, for the alumni can share their inputs and updates on a common digital platform.
