IGP Jammu reviews security scenario, border situation

POONCH: Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Jammu Mukesh Singh-IPS on second day of his visit to district Poonch along with DIG Rajouri-Poonch Vivek Gupta-IPS and SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral-JKPS interacted with Commander 93 Brigade and Commander 10 brigade to reviewed overall security and border situation of the region. During the meeting, SSP Poonch/Rajouri presented detailed presentation about status of crime, security, law and order, preparedness of forthcoming DDC elections etc. On the instance, other issues relating to routine policing, measures to curb menace of drug addiction in the society, border issues, engagement of youths, public oriented plans etc were threadbare discussed. IGP Jammu Zone briefed all officers and laid stress to exhaust efforts to low the crime rate in both districts. After concluding crime review meeting, the IGP Jammu Zone inaugurated a Police Martyrs Volleyball match, organised by District Police Poonch to pay the homage to police martyrs.
Thereafter, the IGP visited Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Temple Mandi, Ziarat Sharief Batalkote Loran and Nangali Sahib to pay obeisance at holy places and also reviewed security arrangements at these religious places. In the evening attended a cultural programme at Conference hall GDC Poonch organised by District Police Poonch in memory of police martyrs which was also attended by the families of martyrs, BDC members, senior citizens and audience in large number.
Later, the IGP presided over piping ceremony of Addl SP Poonch Khalid Amin. Before concluding his visit, the IGP, along with other officers visited Surankote, Bafliaz, Chandimar, Poshana, Peer ki Gali and took overall view of security situation on Mughal Road, especially Poshana check Post. While interacting with local officers, instructions were issued to remain alert, vigilant besides adopting people friendly approach in policing.
