JAMMU: Special Judge NIA Suneet Gupta on Monday granted 14 days police remand of Oazi Waseem, son of Abdul Rashid Qazi, resident of Shupdani, Pulwama, the second accused who was arrested by Police in IED recovery case in Jammu.SDPO City North Satish Sharma produced the accused before the Court, seeking police remand. Special Judge NIA Sunit Gupta after hearing SDPO in person and going through the application, which revealed that the aforementioned accused was arrested on February 14, 2021 in a case registered vide FIR No.05/2021 at Police Station Bus Stand Jammu, under Sections 4/5 of Explosive Act, 18, 23, 38 of UA(P) Act & 120-B IPC. “Presence of accused has been secured through virtual mode and I do not find any kind of external injury on his face or body. The accused is found to be medically examined by medical officer today itself and the medical certificate in this regard also forms part of the remand application. The accused has been duly conveyed with regard to his legal rights. Since the matter is heinous in nature and some important aspects are required to be ascertained, for which police remand of the accused is required for further investigation. Hence, the petition is allowed and accused is remanded to police custody for 14 days w.e.f., February 15, 2021 to February 28, 2021 and he shall be produced before this court on February 28, 2021,” he observed. It is worthwhile to mention here that on February 14, 2021, on second anniversary of Pulwama terror strike, Police apprehending a Nursing College student, who was carrying about 6.5 Kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) to plant it at one out of four targets assigned to him in heart of Jammu city, including General Bus Stand Jammu.
