SRINAGAR: The Department of Horticulture on Friday organised a function here to facilitate live streaming of event held in connection with under e-release of Rs 18000 crores under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna Scheme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an installment from Dec 2020 to Mar 2021.Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on the occasion gave a brief account of all the schemes implemented by the department viz. MIDH/PMDP/CAPEX/SMAM/ RKVY etc. During the briefing, he gave an introduction of the newly launched “Operation Greens- TOP to TOTAL”, PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) and Agriculture Infrastructure Development Fund for the information of the farming community. The Director Horticulture also highlighted the role of the department for technological interventions particularly implementation of High Density Plantation Schemes to boost the economic sector of the farming community. Further he added that the department is facilitating distribution of Scion Wood material for varietal improvement so that high returns are fetched from terminal markets. Later, Director Horticulture distributed the authorization letters to the identified beneficiaries from various districts for the release of subsidy in their account through DBT on the creation/strengthening of post-harvest facilities like Pack Houses, construction of vermicompost units, farm mechanization, motor power sprayer etc. The event was also attended by Deputy Director, Chief Horticulture Officers, District Officers, Farm Managers besides fruit growers of various districts particularly from Ganderbal, Srinagar and Budgam.
