Hari Singh accuses Govt of failure to deal with COVID-19 surge

JAMMU: Expressing serious concern over the resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic with a fresh upsurge in daily cases as well as deaths the District Congress Committee, Jammu Rural has blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party government for the current situation.
In a statement issued here today, President DCC Rural, Hari Singh Chib held the BJP Government responsible for it, accusing it of preferring to focus on West Bengal elections rather than addressing the pandemic situation that has been fast deteriorating especially for the past fortnight.
Speaking specifically on the prevailing COVID-19 situation in Jammu district, Hari Singh said that the enforcement agencies turn a blind eye to the blatant COVID SOPs violation with people moving out without masks besides overcrowding shops and markets. He said that the Union Territory administration has failed in its vaccination campaign alleging that it is going on only in limited areas despite the fact that this infection has created havoc across the globe. He urged the UT administration especially the Health Department to make this vaccine available in each and every health centre across the Union Territory.
Chib appealed to the District Administration to immediately take proactive measures against the violators of Covid guidelines in the markets and other public places. None of the violators should be spared and heavy fines should be imposed on those not wearing masks or maintaining social distance, he said.
Chib said that taking strict action has become inevitable because it is a matter of life and death of the people. Moreover, the UT has already suffered a lot during the past one year of this pandemic in terms of lives and economy besides loss of jobs and it can under no circumstances afford another jolt on such accounts, he added.
