Govt should ensure early return & rehabilitation of KPs in Valley: KPS

Jammu: A meeting of a cross-section of Kashmiri Pandit community was convened by Kashmiri Pandit Sabha under leadership of its Sabha President, K K Khosa on Wednesday to discuss prevailing situation in J&K and its impact on pending issues of KPs, which are hanging in fire for last few decades.
Heads of many important KP Organisations along with some eminent members of Biradari attended the meeting. Valuable inputs were given by the participants who also highlighted various issues confronting community. All the participants expressed their concern that even after 31 years of being in exile, the future of community is still uncertain. The members said that there is still no roadmap on core issue of our return and resettlement on land of our forefathers, Kashmir. They further added that in order to safeguard our identity we shall have to redouble our efforts and also persuade Government to take concrete and viable steps to resettle KPs back in the valley.
There was a unanimous consensus on a few important matters, which included urging Govt to constitute a committee of KPs for their return and rehabilitation in valley, urging Govt to pass Shrines & Temples Act, constructing accommodation for PM package employees on war-footing, providing Govt jobs to 10,000 members of KP community to maintain percentage prevailing before 1990, enhancing monthly cash relief of KP migrants etc.
The house also expressed resentment over statements issued on behalf of community by some individuals which are unwarranted and can prove detrimental to its interests.
Those who spoke on the occasion included R K Wangnoo, Kuldeep Khoda (Ex-DGP), B L Saraf, Chandji Bhat, Sanjay Pandita, R L Pandita, Sundri Lai Koul, Ashok Dhar, Upinder Handoo, R. N Raina, Anil Bhan, Vikram Koul, Desh Rattan Pandita, J L Raina, V K Raina and Ashok Braroo. All members of executive body of KP Sabha were also present and stage was managed by S L Bagati, General Secretary KP Sabha.
