JAMMU: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday issued notification providing reservation to the persons residing in the areas adjoining the International Border (IB).43 border villages in Jammu, Kathua and Samba got formally notified for IB reservation benefits, on account of the directions of LG Manoj Sinha in the public grievances related Mulaqaat held in December 2o20.As per the notification, issued by the Social Welfare Department, Government of J&K, 43 villages situated within the distance of 0-6 kms from IB in Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts have been declared as “Areas adjoining the International Border”, which are eligible for the reservation benefits.These include 21 villages of Jammu, five of Samba and 17 of Kathua district, which shall be benefitted of the reservation.“In exercise of the powers conferred under clause (iiia) of rule 2 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005 and in amplification to notification S.O-226 of 2020 dated July 17, 2020, the Government on the recommendations or Divisional Commissioner, Jammu hereby declare that the 43 villages shall also be the “Area adjoining to the International Border,” reads the notification issued by Bipul Pathak, Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department.21 villages declared as “Areas adjoining IB”, in Jammu district, fall under Sub Division Akhnoor include Akhnoor, Bandral Kalan, Manda and Rakh Dhok; under Sub Division RS Pura are Gandti, Rathana, Chak Nanak, Rangpur Sadrey, Jassore, Khepar, Chak Baja, Tibba Bhains, Bokri, Talley, Makdoom, Arrazi Badyal, Mokhey, Sidher and Badyal Qazian; under Sub Division Jammu South are Singhu Teda and Chumbian Bhawan.Similarly, 17 villages namely Mathra Chak, Chhan Charkhari, Chak Bathol, Hore, Raghunathpur, Gadyal, Sanyal, Jalla Chak, Muthi Hardunga, Rathan Chak, Murli Chal of Tehsil Hiranagar and Chak Desa Choudharian, Malwan, Mukandpur Choudharian, Salalpur and Nihalpur of Teshil Marheen of Kathua District have been declared as “Areas adjoining IB’ while villages Trindi Jamora, Trindi Sangara and Radwan Kalam of Tehsil Ramgarh and Malani and Kalwal of Tehsil Rajpura of Samba district have been declared as ‘Areas adjoining IB’.Distances of these villages from Zero Line ranges from 0.2 to six kms.
