Srinagar: Terrorists shot a goldsmith dead at a busy market here on Thursday, police said.The incident occurred at Sarai Bala in the evening, a police official said.Satpal Nischal, owner of Nischal Jewelers, believed to be 62 years old, was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries, according to police. It was not immediately known why the terrorists targeted the goldsmith.Police have reached the spot and taken cognisance of the incident, the official added.Condemning the cold blooded murder of Satpal Nischal, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Apni Party president termed the incident gruesome and demanded that the culprits be booked and given a stern punishment as warranted under law.“Such inhuman and barbaric incidents are abhorred and unacceptable to any civilized society in the world and the same should be condemned by one and all,” he remarked. Meanwhile, terrorists fired on a CRPF company in Anantnag district, injuring an officer, police said.The terrorists opened fire on the C Company of 89 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Sangam in Anantnag district, a police official said.The official said sub-inspector Hardayal Yadav was injured in the firing. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the terrorists, he added.
