RAMNAGAR: An awareness programme was conducted by Government Degree College, Ramnagar, NSS Unit on theme ‘Quit Drug Choose Life’ for raising awareness regarding menace of drugs abuse under the guidance of Prof Ritika Mahajan NSS PO. Principal, Dr. Udhey Bhanu GDC Ramnagar inaugurated the programme by threwing light on increasing prevalence of drugs abuse among youth and urgent need of an hour to curb this issue. The chief guest of the event occasion was G.R. Bhardwaj, SDPO Ramnagar who elaborated on existing challenges associated with drug abuse. The chief guest also highlighted the role of various psychological and social factors as a driving force behind this menace and the need for proper counselling was also emphasized.
Later on all the queries of the students were also resolved. To make youth more aware, NSS volunteers namely Nancy Sharma and Suhani Gupta described the nature of drug abuse, its consequences through their presentations. A meme act depicting the spread of drugs in the youth society by drug paddlers, effects of taking drugs and way to eradicate this problem from society was also performed by the NSS volunteers. A poem on “Nashabandi” in dogri was recited by one NSS volunteer Rajinder Kumar. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Prof. Ritika Mahajan, NSS Programme officer and convenor of the event. Prof. Divya Puri and Dr. Om Prakash GDC Ramnagar were the organising team members of this one day seminar.
The programme was organised under the noble patronage of Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Principal, GDC Ramnagar who always support and motivated the staff for conducting such event.
