GDC Ramgarh organises Webinar on Swami Vivekananda

RAMGARH: Government Degree College Ramgarh, organized the first Swami Vivekananda Webinar on Thursday to mark the occasion of National Youth Day. The day was celebratedunder the banner of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The event was organised under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of thecollege.
On the onset of the event, Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Pinky Rakwal, Department of Economics. She said that Swami Vivekananda was a strong supporter of Hindu ideology and believed in education and empowering people. The formal welcome inaugural address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College. She exhorted that it is important to make students aware of the National Youth Day (Yuva Diwas). She exhorted that Swami Vivekananda was one of the most prominent philosopher, monks, and thinker of the country. This day was declared as National Youth Day in 1984by the Government of India to pay tribute and houour the teachings of Vivekananda.
Dr Narinder Singh in his presentation shed light on Swami Vivekanand as a role model for Youth. He dealt in detail about biographyof Swami Vivekanand. He highlighted core values of Swami Vivekanand’s Philosophy (Ethics, Religion, Education, Rationality, Nationalism, youth, etc. ). He also talked about Swami Vivekanandas speech about Vedanta philosophy: An address before the Graduate Philosophical Society published in 1897.
Dr Ekta Rani, Department of Hindi in her presentation discussed the significance of National Youth Day and impact of internet on youth. She highlighted that insomnia and insecurity are the result of excessive use of internet. While spending hours on internet, youngsters are left with little time for other tasks, especially healthy physical activities. Playing online games on Android Mobile and PC’s has become more in demand than going out to play and participate in sports.
Participants from different colleges across the Jammu and Kashmir attended the event virtually through the web platform and many more joined the live session of this vary webinar on Google Meet.
Concluding remarks and vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Bhupinder Kour, Department of Environment Science. The aim and objective of this very Webinar was to deliberate on the core agenda Know Importance ofNational Youth Day.
All the teaching and non teaching members of the college graced the occasion with their presence. Last but not least, all the participants gave patient listening to make this event successful.
