UDHAMPUR: Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur, organized an Invited Talk on ‘Transforming Village to Millionaires’ under the able guidance of worthy Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kaur. Popatrao Baguji Pawar who transformed Hiware Bazar to ‘Model Village’ also known for ‘Village of Millionaires’ was invited for talk. The Motive of the talk was to aware and inspired younger generations from Popatrao Pawar’s role and responsibility as young leader to develop the deteriorated village of pre 1989 to exemplary Model village for whole India. The event was started with a welcome note by Dr. Tsering Dorjay, Lecturer in Political Science. The Programme was followed with formal address by Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kour by giving importance on participation, enthusiasm, and also sustainable vision in life. Isha Devi student of 1st Semester welcomed Guest speaker with Dogri folk song by her melody voice. The Programme continued with motivational lecture by Popatrao Pawar (Guest speaker) on his struggles and achievement of Hiware Bazar village to made this village as self-sufficient village, improve in soil, water, free from drug addict, and maintains adequate facilities with sustainable manner in socio-political and economic. Further, he shared that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh also adopted the Hiware Bazar Model in Rural Development in many Panchayat Programme. Dr. Tsering Dorjay was the Co-ordinator of the Programme. The Organizers of the event were Dr. Kamal Deep Kour, Prof. Swati Dutt, Dr. Radha Rani, Dr. Javid Manzoor, Schweta Rani, Fayaz Ahmad, Mohd Jahangir and Ankeshi Rani. The Programme was concluded with vote of thank by Fayaz Ahmad Kumar after discussion session.
