KATHUA: In order to enhance the NAAC ranking through support from Alumni Community, IQAC of Government Degree College Mahanpur organized its first ever Alumni meet in the College campus on 24-12-2020. The function was inaugurated by Dr. R.K. Koul Principal of the College along with alumni by lighting the lamp and floral tributes to Mata Sarswati with Sanskrit Shalokas and prayer song.
The Principal in his welcome address stressed upon the importance of alumni for its vibrant involvement in shaping the future of the College viz a viz NAAC. He emphasized upon the alumni to come up to the expectations of their positive role, in the seven criterion identified by NAAC for fostering growth of College. Prof. Anu Sharma elaborated in detail about role of Alumni in 7th critenom establish by NAAC by her PPT briefed the alumni about alumni meet and alumni association followed by cultural programme presented by the students of College namely Shiwani Verma , Som Raj and others. Dr. Neetika Verma gave a power point presentation about the various activities and achievement of the College endorsed by Prof. Arvind Kumar, Prof. Balbir Kumar, Dr. J.S. Soodan, Saurabh Dutta, Dr. Mohinder Kumar, Dr. Neetika Verma, Dr. Hilal Bhat, Prof. Naresh Kumar, Prof. Anu Sharma, Prof. Rajni Sharma, Prof. Neha Mehra, Prof. Mukesh, . Since its establishment in 2011. Nancy Thakur student of 5th semester welcomed the gathering and gave insights on the emotional bonding, alumni have with their alma mater. This is the first time, an alumni meet was held since the first batch of students graduated in 2014, and was thus a special occasion. So far, 7 batches of undergraduate students have earned their degrees. The alumni visited each and every corner of the College especially library, biomechanical gym, Computer Centre , Class rooms where they studied . An alumni association was formed and the members were elected to work for the association for the betterment of College.Tree plantation was also done by Alumni. The students /faculty/alumni were provided refreshment and lunch.
A total of 35 alumni namely Anil Sharma, Amit Sharma, Tarun Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Sunil Singh,Sunil Kumar, Devinder Singh, Pooja , Vivek Sharma, Mangal Singh, Sidhant Bhardwaj, Monika Rani, Varsha Rani, Shashi Devi, Anjali Devi, Jyoti Devi, Kajal Devi, Vishali Thakur, Bandna Devi, Palvi Sharma, Bandna Sharma , Kanchan Sharma, Neha Rani, Kajal Sharma, Bandna Devi, Pooja Sharma visited the College. The organizing committee comprises of Prof. Arvind Kumar, Prof. Balbir Kumar, Dr. J.S. Soodan, Saurabh Dutta, Dr. Mohinder Kumar, Dr. Neetika Verma, Dr. Hilal Bhat, Prof. Naresh Kumar, Prof. Anu Sharma, Prof. Rajni Sharma. Mementos were presented to all the alumni as a souvenir to their maiden alumni meet. The students who participated and performed in the meet were Diksha Verma, Kajal Devi, Babli Devi, Bimla Devi, Reva Rani, Nancy Thakur, Shivali Sharma, Anju Bala , Ankita Sharma , Rukhsana Bano, Pooja Devi, Palvi Sharma, Vishali Sharma, Manchal Verma, Taru Upadhaya. The programme culminated with vote of thanks presented by Shivali Sharma of Semester-5th .The non- teaching staff that were present included Romesh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Sunny Sharma, Anu Radha, Sewa Ram, Pankaj, Shiboo Din.
