GDC Chenani inaugurates national webinar on water, livelihood management

CHENANI: Govt. Degree College, Chenani in collaboration with the society of Life Sciences, Satna, MadhyaPradesh inaugurated the two day national webinar in blended mode on Friday. The theme of the webinar was “Water management, Livelihood security and Sustainable development”. The two day event is sponsored by the JK Science Technology and Innovation Council,Department of Science and Technology, J&K Govt.
The main objective behind organising this event is to generate environment awareness among the students and local community about advantages and opportunities of water resources in and around the area.
The two resource persons Dr Rajesh Saxena,Senior Principal Scientist and Head,Centre for Excellence in Biotechnology (CEBT),MP Council of Science & Technology, DST, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh and Dr Prahlad Dube, Professor and Former Coordinator, Departments of Zoology and Life Science, University of Kota, Rajasthan highlighted the importance of water in sustaining and supporting the existence of life on planet Earth. Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College in addition to formal inauguration of the session added that water is at the core of sustainable development and is critical for socio economic development, healthy ecosystem and for human survival. It is finite and irreplaceable resource and is fundamental to human beings.
In addition to the two resource persons, the students from the first semester of GDC, Chenani presented their presentations on water management, livelihood security and on environment and sustainable development. Student Sufiakhatoon delivered her presentation on water management while Rakshita Mahajan spoke on livelihood security and Varun Gupta delivered his presentation on sustainable development.
Prof. Palvi Thakur presented the vote of thanks at the end of the program. The sessions were coordinated by Prof.Priyanka Bala and Prof.Manya Gupta. The organizers of the program were Prof. Hafeez Mir and Prof. Ajaz Ahmed Dar.
