JAMMU: The NSS unit of Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET), Jammu on Wednesday organised a plantation drive under Clean India Campaign, an initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.The drive was initiated under the patronage of principal of the college, Dr. Sameru Sharma.While leading the mass movement for go green initiative, she exhorted the staff members, students and NSS volunteers to plant more and more trees to create a healthy atmosphere.She also encouraged all to come forward and obtain saplings from the concerned departments and plant and nurture them for a clean and green campus.The staff members and volunteers planted a number of saplings of various trees and a pledge was taken by all present, to take care of these sapling.The plantation drive was organized by NSS volunteers Sakshi Bhat, Mandeep Singh, Jaanvi Sharma, Vijay Rathore under the guidance of Vishal Vaid and NSS Programme Officer Dr. Raman Gupta of the college.
