Gandhi Nagar zone trekking concludes at Mansar


JAMMU: The five-day long trekking programme of the Gandhi Nagar zone, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) involving 100 students concluded on Sunday at Mansar.
The idea of trekking was initiated by Director General DYSS, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman with the aim to give some propitiate to students who were struck back home for months together due to covid-19 pandemic. The trekking was a new concept and experience for all the students as they witnessed the rough treks, water channels with steep treks scattered inhabitants.
They trekked the renowned Mahoregarh and Dhergarh trek from the base camp.
“These school students inculcated new experience and learnt about the flora and fauna of the Mansar locality. They enjoyed the adventurous activities like Rappelling and Rope climbing with the expertise and active support of Pir Panjal Adventurers who guided the whole trekking. It was memorable experience for all the trekkers,” informed one of the teachers accompanying the group, Chamel Singh said.
Earlier, the five days trekking was flagged off by Vijay Kumar (CEO Jammu) in presence of Assistant Director, Mool Raj and district officer (DYSS), Sukhdev Raj Sharma for the Mansar lake that also shares the prodigy and holiness of lake Mansoarovar.
