Four J&K UT Fencers create history, qualify for World Cup

JAMMU: The four fencers from J&K UT have created history by qualifying for the first time in Senior World Cup.
The fencers namely Vishal Thapar, Javed Ahmed Choudhary, Mayank Sharma and Shreya Gupta are going to participate in upcoming Senior Fencing Sabre World Cup.
The Men World Cup shall be held at Spain from May 6 to 8, 2022.
Shreya Gupta, the lone women qualifier, shall be participating in the Women World Cup being held at Tunisia, North Africa from May 6 to 8, 2022.
These fencers have qualified for these World Cup Tournaments on the basis of their ranking and splendid performance in 32nd Senior National Championships held at Amritsar from March 13 to 16, 2022.
In a press release, President of J&K Amateur Fencing Association, M.J Sharma appreciated the hard work and stupendous efforts of aforesaid fencers in qualifying for this prestigious tournament.
He wished them good luck and hoped that the fencers by the blessing of God will come with flying colours in the aforesaid competitions.
Sharma said that it’s hard work of coaches Shotu Lal and Rachna Jamwal, dedication of J&K Amateur Fencing Association and wholehearted support of J&K Sports Council that J&K fencers are reaching glorious heights by winning medals in national and international arenas.
