Four drug peddlers arrested, contraband substance recovered

SRINAGAR: Acting tough against drug dealings, Police on Tuesday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers at a check point established at Kawani Crossing Awantipora intercepted a person, identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie, resident of Braw Bandina, Awantipora. During checking, 1 Kg Charas was recovered from his possession. The drug peddler was arrested on the spot and shifted to Police Station Awantipora, where he remained under custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.181/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Srinagar Police also arrested 3 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession. Officers from Police Station Rainawari intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01AJ-6547 with three persons onboard. They were identified as Iqram Bulbul, son of Ashraf Bulbul resident of Upper Soura; Bilal Kuchai, son of Aziz Kuchai, resident of Nawab Bazaar and a woman, resident of Jal Mohalla Rainawari. During checking, 5.5 gm Heroin was recovered from their possession. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. In this connection, police has registered a case vide FIR No 58/2020 under relevant sections of law against the three accused persons and initiated investigation into the matter.
