Fencer Vansh Mahajan gets Sher-e-Kashmir award

JAMMU: International Fencer, Vansh Manajan has been presented the prestigious Sher-e-Kashmir Sports Award by Jammu and Kashmir Government for his excellent performance in the field of Fencing Game. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, souvenir and sports dress. Vansh Mahajan has already been honoured with Rangil Singh Sports Excellency Award from J&K Olympic Association. He has represented the country on various occasions including World University Games at Italy, Junior World Cup at Russia, Junior World Championship at Italy, Navy open Fencing Championship at Bangkok, Junior Fencing Championship at Singapore, Thailand Fencing Championship at Thailand, Junior Cadet Common Wealth Fencing Championship at Cape town, South Africa thereby won many medals. Vansh owes his success mainly due to continuous efforts and support of J&K Amateur Fencing Association and J&K Sports Council coach, Shotu Lal Sharma and mentor former International player and Inspector with J&K Police, Rashid Ahmed Chowdhary.
“Vansh deserves such honours for his achievements at the world stage. He is a natural talent and has worked hard to create a space for himself. My best wishes for Vansh and I congratulate his father, Kuldeep Gupta for being a pillar support all these years,” said Rashid Ahmed.
