Female lifters impress in Samba Weightlifting meet

SAMBA: Female lifters, including those school girls, received a big applaud from the gathering of college students and staff in the District Samba Weightlifting Championship, which was organised by District Samba Weightlifting Association under the aegis of J&K Weightlifting Association on GDC Samba campus, here.
Principal of the College, who witnessed the event, appreciated the young women for their courage to perform in front of the huge crowd and excelled in their respective weight categories. He complimented the Association for organising the event at the college campus and hoped that a lot of youth may have encouraged to take-up the sport.
Principal, along with other distinguished guests honoured the position holders in different weight categories.
Later, General Secretary of the Association, Yudhvir Singh expressed his gratitude to the GDC Samba for extending a helping hand and thanked the sports and physical education department of the college for the cooperation.
Also present were President of the Association, Harbhajan Singh, Vice President, Ravi Singh and Senior Weightlifting Coach of J&K Sports Council, Inderpal Singh. The event took place under the supervision of District President, Kulbir Singh and Secretary, Jangbir Singh while the technical panel comprised qualified officials, Dhanraj Singh (NIS), Amit Sharma and Muneesh Charak.
