JAMMU: Acting tough against accused involved in racket of preparing fake contractor registration cards, Crime Branch Jammu continued raids in Anantnag and Srinagar Districts and arrested 3 accused, for their involvement in the racket, including Kingpin-Bilal Ahmed Wani, son of Mohd Akber Wani, resident of Pashwara, Dalgate; Bilal Ahmed Dar, son of Gul Mohd Dar, resident of Dabwane Anantnag (Supervisor in R&B PWD Ramban) and Mohd Amin Rather, son of Gh Mohd Rather, resident of Dharna Tehsil, Dooru, Anantnag (Agent).
As per an official spokesperson of the investigating agency, three more accused were arrested in a case registered vide FIR No. 01/2020 under Sections 420, 465, 466, 467, 471 & 120-B of IPC at Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu. Their hideouts were searched after getting orders from Judicial Magistrate. Bilal Ahmed Wani is kingpin of racket and presently serving in UEED Srinagar. He was earlier dismissed from service but was later reinstated after 15 years through the Court of law in 2016, he added.
The official further said that accused were not cooperating in the investigation of the case and were constantly on run to evade arrest by frequently changing their locations, ever since the case was registered in Crime Branch Jammu to unearth the racket, following receipt of a complaint regarding manipulations in procurement of contractor registration certificates. Crime Branch Jammu developed specific inputs about whereabouts of accused, on basis of which the accused were put under constant surveillance and were ultimately tracked and arrested to face investigation. Four arrests have already been made by Crime Branch Jammu in the case, he added.
