JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau on Wednesday booked former Settlement Officer Jammu Saleem Mohammad and former Patwari of Bari Brahamana Atta Mohammad for illegal mutation of land worth crores of rupees in favour of six beneficiaries.Saleem Mohammad is already facing charges of similar nature for illegal mutation of land in 2017 also.
According to officials, FIR 05/2021-ACB Jammu has been registered for illegal mutation under Section 121 of Land Revenue Act against the former Settlement Officer Jammu, Saleem Mohammad, son of Late Choudhary Nawab Din, resident of H. No. 821, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Atta Mohammad, son of Sain Mohammed, resident of Bari Khad Bari Brahmana District Samba, then Patwari (now retired)The beneficiaries include property dealer Abdul Hamid, son of Haji Fakar Din, his wife Shabnam Kousar, son Mohammed Haroon Hamid, daughter Arosa Choudhary, all residents of Chowadi, Jammu; Sehaz Akhtar, son of Abdul Gaffar, resident of H. No. 87 Gujjar Nagar, Jammu and Skikan Singh, wife of Surjeet Singh, resident of Chack Ratnu, Jammu.In another case, registered in 2017, the then State Vigilance Organisation (now ACB) had booked Saleem Mohammad, the then Settlement Officer, Sher Singh, the then Girdawar Circle Katra and the then Patwari Settlement Kunddrorian (Katra). The former officials in criminal conspiracy and connivance with private beneficiaries had allegedly abused their official position and illegally mutated land under Section 121 of Land Revenue Act at village Kunddrorian, during 2010 and evaded Stamp Duty worth crores of rupees.The name of Mohammed Saleem also figures in gun licenses scam which is under CBI investigation. On Dec 30, 2019, the CBI had also conducted searches at his residence in Jammu. The case is still under investigation.
