Establishing three-tier PRI system watershed moment for J&K: Yudhvir

JAMMU: The establishment of three-tier system of the Panchayati Raj Institutions under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been the watershed moment for grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party senior Vice-President Yudhvir Sethi said today.
Sethi made these comments after meeting Panchayat representatives from Kathua district who had called upon him to honour him for the stellar performance of the BJP candidates in the recently concluded elections to the District Development Councils.
Sethi, who is also the in-charge for Kathua district, said that under the current leadership at the Centre, BJP has succeeded in decimating the dynastic rule in Jammu and Kashmir, and putting the power back to the people of the region.
A group of Panches and Sarpanchs from Kathua district called upon Yudhvir Sethi at his residence here and honoured him for the impressive win by BJP candidates in the DDC elections.
These Panchayat representatives expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting local governance.
“Modi wrote history when his government established three tiers of PRI system in Jammu and Kashmir viz. Panchayats, Block Development Councils and District Development Councils, after a wait for over 70 years. This move not only strengthened grassroots democracy in the union territory but also put the power back with the people,” Sethi told the gathering.
