JAMMU: Former Minister, Ex MLA Marh and Chairman Panchyati Raj Cell BJP JK UT, Ch Sukhnandan has urged the government to ensure availability of fertilizers specially DAP in Jammu division as due to the shortage of fertilizer farmers in this area are struggling badly.“As the early variety crops and wheat sowing season has been started and due to the non-availability of DAP fertilizer, farmers across the Jammu division are not in the position to sow all these seasonal crops. Late sowing of these crops will result low yield which ultimately affects the production ,”he asserted.He further said the government should keep in view that the winter crops are not only a key crop cycle for farmers but is equally important for the growth of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy which largely depends on the agricultural and horticulture sectors.“Due to non-availability of DAP fertilizer, the farmers in Jammu division would lose crops and the overall crop production would be drastically impacted, “he added.He also told that farmers from almost all the districts of Jammu division have approached him for the redressal of the grievance of shortage of fertilizer. He appealed the LG Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and ensure the regular supply of DAP fertilizer to the farmers.He further warned the authorities to streamline the supply of DAP fertilizers in Jammu division otherwise, he will leave no other option for the farmers to come on the roads to fulfill their genuine demands.
