‘Earmark 50 pc bedding strength of private hospitals for COVID patients’



JAMMU: National Conference State Secretary and former MLC Rattan Lal Gupta on Friday expressed grave concern over alarming spike in COVID-19 cases across Jammu and Kashmir and urged the administration to have 50 per cent bedding strength of the private hospitals and nursing homes earmarked as Corona Wards to cope up with the emergencies.
“In view of the surge, it would be expected from the administration to create necessary infrastructural facilities in place to meet the situation”, Gupta said in a statement issued from the Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this afternoon.
Gupta also sought effective implementation of three ‘T’s– , testing, tracking and treating the patients to win over the virus, which has emerged as the most dreaded threat to the humanity across the globe. For this, coordinated effort and monitoring is necessary.
On their part, the people should also adhere to the COVID appropriate behaviour as any laxity will cost adversely and enormously, he added.
Rattan Lal Gupta also sought filling up of the vacancies of medics and paramedics, as the reports of 30 per cent sanctioned strength of doctors lying vacant.
Gupta called for ensuring adequate supplies of medicines available in the health institutions in view of the challenge poses by the global pandemic.
