DYSS plans sports events for U-25 youth

JAMMU: After half done job by J&K Sports Council (JKSC) with regard to Premier League, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) has planned activities aimed at under-25 youth at Zonal and District level in the disciplines of Cricket, Volleyball, Kabaddi and Football. A circular has been issued by the Director General (DG) of DYSS to the district level directing the concerned officers to start registration process of engaging teams at the zonal level for the proposed competition from April 20. The first phase of zone level activity shall be followed by the second phase of district (inter-zone) level meet. For the first phase zonal officers have been asked to hold registration of teams from April five to April 10 and draw the fixtures by April 15. For both zone and district level activity, the DYSS has introduced prize money. While the winner at the zone level to get Rs 5,000, followed by the Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 to silver and bronze medal winner respectively. Similarly, for those teams at the district level the winner will get Rs 25,000 and the runners-up Rs 15,000. The third position holder to become rich by Rs 10,000.
Besides, the players shall be given Rs 50 per head per day refreshment. The participants, at the district level, shall also be paid the actual transport charges. All the district officers have been asked to submit the details about the events with Joint Directors at Jammu and Srinagar to work out the financial requirements.
