Bhadarwah: The celebration of Dussehra festival was held in Additional district Bhadarwah with religious fervour on Friday evening after two years of simplicity due to COVID-19 restrictions.Like other parts of the country, Dussehra festival-which marks the victory of good over evil, was celebrated with great enthusiasm, gaiety and religious fervour by both communities (Hindus and Muslims) of Bhadarwah where effigies of Ravana, Kumbkaran and Meghnath were burnt.The main religious function was held at Historical Seri Bazaar Bhadarwah, where people watched the burning of sky high effigies of demon king Ravana, his brother Kumbhkarana and son Meghnath to mark the culmination of good prevailing upon evil.DDC Chairman Doda Dhananter Singh and Janta Dal (S) State Vice President Mast Nath Yogi also participated in the programme of Dussehra also known as Vijaya Dashami.On the occasion, a victory march was taken out in the Bazaars with tableau of Lord Rama, depicting the scenes and characters from Ramayana, to mark the return of Lord Rama after killing the demon king. Thereafter, the tall effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhkarana were set on fire, amidst bursting of loud fire crackers.Muslims also greeted their Hindu Brethren on the occasion and participated in large numbers to give message of communal harmony and brotherhood in the area since decades.Security arrangements were beefed up in all areas.SHO Bhadarwah Jatinder Singh Rakwal said that in view of celebrations, tight security arrangements were made in and around the venue of celebration.Meanwhile, army celebrated Dussehra and organised a Bhandara (Community Kitchen) at Asan and Battal villages in Sunderbani, Akhnoor Sector of UT of J&K. Theme of the event ‘The Victory of Good over Evil’. The event provided a platform for villagers to interact and socialise with the Indian Army and celebrate the auspicious day together. An Approximate strength of Indian Army and 300 villagers from all nearby villages attended the event. The Awaam appreciated Indian Army’s efforts for organising such events.NOWSHERA: The festival of Dussehra which marks the victory of good over evil, was celebrated at Nowshera with great religious fervor and gaiety.A jhanki in the guise of Ram, Laxman, Hanujmar, Sugriv, Vibhushan, Angad and others was taken out from Historical Raghunath Mandir Nowshera under the supervision of President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Jagdish Chander Sahani took a round and passed through Kali Mata Mandir, Gujral Chowk, Thakurdwara, main Bus stand, Jhangar chowk and reached Mandir Ground.The effigy of Ravna was burnt amid busting of crackers which was viewed by thousands of people including men, women and children.Prominent among those present include Subhash Kapoor, president Beopar Mandal, Ravikant Gupta, Gopal Sharma and others.
